Child care assistance helps eligible individuals and families by offsetting costs. Cost subsidies are based on income guidelines and will vary according to household income and number of children receiving care. Eligible families will pay a portion of the child care costs based on each family’s gross income. Payments are paid directly to the child care provider, including the benefit paid by the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services and the co-payment from the individual/family.
Eligibility Requirements
Families with a gross income of 145% of the federal poverty guideline or less may be eligible for child care assistance. Families may remain eligible until their income exceeds 300% of the federal poverty guideline. Case reviews are conducted every 12 months to assess income or other changes that may impact eligibility. In addition to the income guidelines, families must also be participating in an eligible activity such as paid employment, education/training program, or an approved OWF work activity.
